Camping & Lodging

There are three different components to our Camping Zone:

  1. Free Tent Camping
  2. Glamping Packages
  3. RV Camping

Keep scrolling down for information on each.

1). Tent Camping

Free tent camping available on a first come first serve basis. New for 2018 – we have two camping options – Family Camping (quiet camping) and General Camping (not-so-quiet camping).

  • The Family Camping/Quiet Camping Zone will be located across the river in Rivers Edge South. There is an 11pm noise curfew.
  • The Family Camping area will be hosted by the Girls Scouts, who will be offering breakfast (proceeds will benefit their troops!), as well as s’mores and movies on a big screen!
  • The General Camping/Not-So-Quiet Camping Zone is located in Maher Field (baseball field next to GO Fest site).
  • Camping does not open until 6pm on Friday. Do not show up early, you will not be allowed in.
  • Water, porta potties, fire pit, charging stations, lounges and more are provided.
  • See Camping Map for equipment drop off zone. Please drop your equipment and move your car as quickly as possible to free up parking space for others.
  • See Camping Rules below.

2). 2018 Glamping Package

This year’s glamping package is provided by Show Sherpa and will make your GO Fest experience fun and care-free. All you have to do is show up and everything will be move-in ready on Friday at 6pm. THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF GLAMPING SPACES AVAILABLE, and they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.  All proceeds for the VIP Glamping goes back into the festival adding bigger music acts and helping to keep it free. Below is what is included in the glamping package:

  • Large Eureka! brand tent with 7′ of head room!
  • 2 Comfortable camping cots (twin size only)
  • 2 Camping Chairs
  • 2 Sleeping Bags
  • 1 Lantern
  • 2 GO Fest Pint Glasses & 4 Beer Tickets
  • Sherpa Village Amenities (community tent w/ chairs, lights, porta potties, phone chargers, complementary bag of ice, water coolers for refilling cups/bottles)

Additional Perks:

  • Swag Bag (exact contents TBD)

3). RV Camping:

RV Camping will not be available this year.  We hate to disappoint, but hope to bring it back for 2019!

Camping Rules & Regulations for both Family and “Not-So-Quiet” Camping Zones:

(Please take them seriously so we can continue offering camping in a city park):

  • Girls Scouts will be overseeing the Family camping zone this year at GO Fest, and Show Sherpa will be overseeing the Rowdy zone.  Please make sure to check in with them at the “Camping Check-In” Table located at Rivers Edge Park South where the pedestrian bridge crosses the Roanoke River.
  • Fires – unfortunately the fire marshal will not permit private campfires. However there will be community fire pits to enjoy.
  • Dogs must be on leash at all times
  • No showers – sorry.
  • Please-No urinating in public (you’ll be ticketed and asked to leave).
  • Pack out what you pack in
    • There will be Dumpsters & Recycling Onsite– please follow the BLUE RECYCLING signs to the drop off zone on the festival site perimeter.  Please do not put your trash & recycling into the bins on the festival grounds as it causes our volunteers a lot more work!
  • Questions? Contact Susan Herndon-Powell, Camping Coordinator at susan.herndon-powell@roanokeva.gov.

Off-Site Camping, new this year!:

Off-site camping is now available from Blue Mountain Adventures. New this year, pitch your tent  at Explore Park, only 15 minutes from River’s Edge.

  • Reserve your spot in a primitive group campsite in a remote and beautiful wooded setting. Take advantage of convenient  parking, group campfire locations and picnic areas each evening before  you head back to the big event.
  • Only $10 per tent for a two night stay.
  • Online registration is available through Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism’s website. Please login or create an account to sign up.
