Head to Head!
What is it? 4 person head-to-head cycling competition heats on Computrainer stationary trainers. You will ride your own bicycle over a 4 mile course for your fastest time. Be prepared to race for fun with your friends and cycling buddies!
The time trial is presented by Hefler Performance Coaching in partnership with Downshift. HPC is recognized as the Gold-standard in Cycling Coaching in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are based in Northern Virginia, but coming soon to Roanoke. ( Hey, the riding is better down here, right? ) We offer metabolic and VO2 performance testing, individualized coaching programs for all cyclists and triathletes, and technology based fitting and analysis for your bike. Additionally, we offer cycling performance classes in our studio(s).
Sign-up at the link above for your slot. Each time slot will allow four people to sign-up. Have your friends race against you or just randomly choose a time and be pitted against other competitors!
We strongly suggest road bikes or Tri bikes, but any bike with a smooth tire tread pattern will work! Please switch out Gravel or CX knobbies to slicks for this event! Very small kid’s bikes with less than a 24 inch wheel won’t reach the trainer. (Please no MTB or Knobby tires- they are not compatible with our trainers!)
Race heats run every two hours; Riders will be able to warm-up for~ 20 minutes prior to start of each heat. You will need to have a Towel, water bottle, and of course, your bike.
Prizes will be awarded for fastest time in a number of age categories male, female and overall fastest times.
What is a Computrainer?
CompuTrainer looks like a normal stationary bicycle trainer, but collects data every second that is continuously updated and displayed on a screen right before your eyes. The system gives you instantaneous power output, speed, gradient, distance, time, and other critical metrics that help you get the best workout possible. Your progress is displayed on a video monitor as you ride. The trainer will simulate hills and dales by increasing or decreasing resistance as you ride the course- think of it as riding on the road without all the bugs hitting you!
