Rock Craft Incarnate

Building traditional rock anchors is the backbone of expert rock climbing technique, but all climbers venturing into novel terrain need to know this skill. This is how climbers are able to climb 200’, 400’, or 1000’ into the air and stay safe. This clinic will demonstrate how “nuts” and “cams” are used to build anchors that attach climbers to the rock walls they climb. Of special interest will be techniques that join 3 or more separate nuts or cams together into one strong “masterpoint.” Beginners: come to watch! Climbers: come with questions!

Granite Arches Climbing Guides offers outstanding rock climbing adventures on the outskirts of Roanoke and throughout the Southeast and beyond. We have amazing adventures for most ages and all skill levels. We have been in business over 20 years and all of our instructors are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA).
