Craft Beer Events
Help us welcome Deschutes Brewery to Roanoke with a BANG by raising a glass at the 2016 Anthem Go Outside Festival. Of course we’ll have our favorite regionally made beer by Parkway Brewing Company representing Virginia’s Blue Ridge beer scene. There will be plenty of amazing beer to sample, as well as great new events that will be hosted onsite. More details on a variety of events will be coming soon. Here is what we have so far…
Deschutes Daily Reserve Happy Hour:
Each day there will be one featured beer by Deschutes Brewery from their private reserve collection shipped all the way just for GO Fest from Bend, Oregon. No other place on the East Coast will probably have access to these finely curated selections. So make sure to stop by early each day to make sure you get to try it out. Only ONE KEG daily will be tapped for each selection and there may be a slightly higher price point involved, but we assure you it will be totally worth it. Even though these beer typically cost $10+ to try normally, you can get a 10oz pour at GO Fest for just one normal beer token.
Reserve Beer Happy Hour Times (Report to “Woody” at the following times):
Friday, October 14th @ 7pm – The Abyss 2015
A deep, dark Imperial Stout, The Abyss has almost immeasurable depth and complexity. Hints of molasses, licorice and other alluring flavors make it something not just to quaff, but contemplate. As for the great “drink it now or let it age” debate, we stand clearly on the fence. Distinct and delicious on release, the flavors meld and fuse into an entirely different pleasure after a year or more in the cellar. Released 12/17/15. View “The Abyss 2015” Brewer’s Notes…
Saturday, October 15th @ 1pm – Black Butte XXVII
Every year, we celebrate our anniversary with an imperial, barrel-aged version of our flagship Black Butte Porter. Our brewers love to experiment and they always add some fun new ingredients to this beer like chilies, cranberries, figs and other such treats. This year, to celebrate 28 years of brewing, they’ve added the interesting mix of ingredients above for another multi-layered flavor experience. View “Black Butte XXVII” Brewer’s Notes…
Sunday, October 16th @ 1pm – Mirror Mirror 2014
The Reserve Series romance all began with our first release of this limited-edition brew. Mirror Mirror, born of a double batch of Mirror Pond Pale Ale, is an inspired barley wine ale layered with intriguing nuances. Explore this latest incarnation and enjoy its delicious complexity in every sip.(Released March 2014). View “Mirror Mirror 2014” Brewer’s Notes…
Parkway Brewery Serving One-of-a-Kind “Go Fest Yourself” Saison Ale- Made Just for GO Fest:
Go Fest Yourself Saison Ale- Brewer’s Notes-
German Pilsner malt gives this pale, straw colored beer a light grainy sweetness, which complements a subtle, floral spiciness from Czech hops. Our saison yeast blend drives the aroma, contributing notes of black pepper, pear and citrus, along with a light earthiness. This delicious and refreshing beer has a pillowy white head and prickly carbonation that fades to a bone dry finish.
ABV: 6% IBU: 24
Sampling & Food Pairings:
River and Rail Restaurant, Barebones Living and Deschutes Brewery have come together in an epic partnership to bring samplings of our favorite craft beer and fine dining pairings right to the middle of GO Fest. Literally! In the middle of the festival site there will be a tent with food samples being prepared in unique cast iron cookware from Barebones Living by the culinary geniuses at River and Rail Restaurant here in South Roanoke (less than a minute from the festival site). Food is always good, but food paired perfectly with your favorite beer is better! That is why the experts at Deschutes will be working with them to also offer small tastings all under the same tent.
